About Us
Red Bison Jewelry was born from a lifelong love of art, the Southwest, and the stories that jewelry can tell.
I grew up in Tucson, Arizona--surrounded by desert beauty, rugged mountains, prickly pear cacti, lightning storms that made the sky dance, and sunsets that felt like magic. I was lucky enough to spend my days exploring places like Sabino Canyon, Saguaro National Park, and the Rincon, Tucson, and Santa Catalina mountains, letting nature and the desert skies imprint on my spirit. From an early age, I expressed creativity through calligraphy and developed a strong passion for fashion and jewelry.
In 2012, life brought me to Oklahoma through a career in banking. Here, my love for Native American and Western culture deepened. I found myself drawn even more to turquoise, silver, and pieces that carry meaning and tradition.
Then in 2023, everything changed. I picked up a book called Simple Soldering and what started as curiosity quickly became obsession. I dove headfirst into learning all I could about metals, cabochons, gems, tools, and techniques. The more I learned, the more I fell in love. I even made it back to Tucson to attend the world's largest gem show--something I never imagined I'd do growing up there --and it beyond inspired me.
And none of this journey would be possible without the unwavering support of my husband, Sean. Not only is he incredibly patient, but he's also got a keen eye for design and a solid background in tools and materials--basically the perfect partner for a jewelry making adventure. Admittedly, my jewelry obsession may have taken over a few too many corners of the house and sparked more tool purchases than he bargained for--but he puts up with me anyway. And to his credit, he appreciates that I've finally joined him in his love for tools. He's especially proud that I now truly understand one of life's greatest truths: you can never have too many.
So why the name Red Bison? It's simple: I'm a redhead living in red dirt Oklahoma, with a heart full of admiration for the powerful, majestic bison. The name just fit--bold, wild, and rooted in the West.
Each piece I create is galvanized by my journey, my heritage, and the landscapes that shaped me. Red Bison Jewelry is where rustic meets refined, where the past meets the present, and where every creation embodies a story.
With love from red dirt country,
Donna, Red Bison Jewelry
